After 10 years, JAM Dance Academy found itself in need of a new home or have to shut it's doors.  Thanks to a generous donor to our in-house Ballet company, Ballet Legato, we are able to use the newly created space to continue our schooling while they produce more amazing events for Lorain county.  We couldn't be more grateful that the arts will be able to succeed and we can bring inclusive dance training to all of Lorain and it's surrounding counties.  North Ridgeville is our home and we are grateful to stay in our community!

JAM Dance Academy Shows Support for Victims of Domestic Violence This Holiday Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JAM Dance Academy to offer complimentary ‘Nutcracker’ admission and a year-long dance scholarship to victims of domestic violence.

Nov. 2, 2017 – North Ridgeville, OH – JAM Dance Academy is doing its part to support victims of domestic violence. On behalf of E. John Busser, JAM Dance Academy will supply the Genesis House with twenty-five complimentary tickets to ‘The Nutcracker’ performance Dec. 9th and 10th at Elyria High School Performing Arts Center and the Nutcracker Tea, a preview performance, Nov. 19th at Avon Isle. JAM Dance Academy will also grant one deserving and aspiring dancer from the Genesis House Lorain County Safe Harbor a year-long scholarship to take dance classes free of charge at the studio.

“What a delight it was for all of us at Genesis House to receive tickets to the Nutcracker Tea, The Nutcracker performance, and the year-long scholarship for a child! We are grateful for the generosity of JAM Dance Academy and their partnership with E. John Busser. The individuals and families we serve do not often have opportunity to attend events such as these or receive dance lessons. On behalf of the families we serve, we thank you for your desire to brighten the lives of others and impact the life of a child,” said Laura Hite, Aftercare Program Coordinator at Genesis House.

JAM Dance Academy is in its fifth season under the direction of former Ohio Dance Theater principle dancer, Jennifer Kraynik-Muselin.  Kraynik-Muselin will direct and produce the school’s second ‘Nutcracker’ ballet this winter.

“Every child remembers their first Nutcracker ballet which usually solidifies their dreams of wanting to become a ballerina. It has been my dream for twenty years to produce story ballets and I am honored to share that dream with the Genesis House Lorain County Safe Harbor this holiday season,” said Kraynik-Muselin.

The Nutcracker’ is a ballet classic that tells the story of a little girl who receives a nutcracker for Christmas from her loving Uncle Drosselmeyer. The nutcracker comes alive and carries the little girl away to a magical kingdom. The ballet was first performed in Russia in 1892 and again this holiday season, JAM Dance Academy will bring a fresh approach to this holiday classic. The performance will feature area students as well as professional and formerly professional dancers from Verb Ballets, St. Louis Ballet, Lexington Ballet, and Dayton Ballet.

"It has been a pleasure to work with the JAM Dance Academy family throughout the rehearsal process. The students act professionally and show that they love what they are doing through their hard work. Because of their dedication and Jennifer's fresh take on the classic choreography, I know this is going to be a very exciting and worthwhile production!” said Verb Ballets dancer, Kate Webb, who will dance the role of Snow Queen and Dew Drop in this year’s production.

Verb Ballets dancer and former JAM Dance Academy instructor, Michael Escovedo, is dancing the role of Mr. Stahlbaum in this year’s production. “It’s my passion showing people what I love and what I work for.  Jenifer Muselin’s ‘Nutcracker’ not only gives me a stage to perform on, but a beautiful ballet that I love getting to dance,” said Escovedo.

Patrons are invited to join guests from the Genesis House Lorain County Safe Harbor at the ‘Nutcracker Tea,’ on November 19th at Avon Isle at 2pm (37080 Detroit Rd, Avon). Tickets are available by calling 440-327-0255.

Sponsored by Superior Quality Builders, the full production of ‘The Nutcracker’ will take place December 9th at 1pm and 7:30pm as well as December 10th at 2pm at Elyria High School Performing Arts Center (600 West Ave, Elyria).
